“What is the use of a house if you haven’t got a tolerable planet to put it on?”

                                                      -Henry David Thoreau-

Green Building addresses the need for new housing while trying to have a lighter footprint on our planet as well as our pocketbooks. What does it mean to be called a green building? What are some of the advantages of owning or building a “green home?”

Green Building is essentially a systems approach toward the design and construction of a home. This systems approach incorporates ideas and strategies that result in a home that is healthier for the occupants and healthier for the environment. Green building is in essence thoughtful design. It is a very proactive way to improve the quality of our building stock while creating a more comfortable, healthy, affordable home. Energy efficiency, material efficiency, indoor air quality, resource efficiency, and community awareness are all elements in the design of green buildings.

The Tradition wants to offer its residents/ homeowners the opportunity to benefit from green building. Therefore we are incorporating green building standards and guidelines in our restrictive covenants to ensure that all the homes are built to meet green building standards.
